Mojito Cupcake
My friend Kim texted me one day to ask if I could make a special birthday cake for her friend's birthday. She said she likes stout, dark chocolate, red wine, salmon roe, sushi (but not salmon), spicy chocolate, Cedele's carrot cake, pear sake, mojitos... rich and dense stuff yet not too rich and sweet. Kim also described her as someone who appreciates fun and novelty, in a beautiful and conventional sense (nothing too eccentric), caring and romantic, and she likes glitter, confetti and sparkly things. An architectural student, her friend's works also tend to show lots of arcs and bends - graceful and smooth.
With such a long and thorough description, I was pretty stumped for a while. But I really wanted to try to make this as unique as possible, and classy. I finally decided on a mojito flavoured cake (pear sake mojito was a little too challenging!) and made cupcakes along with them as well.
Happy birthday Joey! (:
